A mother used her medical alert device to summon police after an attack by her son in the Villages of Parkwood.
Sumter County EMS received a medical alert June 6 and could hear what sounded like a disturbance, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department.
When police arrived, the woman said her son, 47-year-old Christopher Allen Beauchemin, had been drinking when they began to argue over him not being able to find his glasses. As the argument escalated, Beauchemin grabbed his mother by the hair and began shaking her head, the arrest report said.
The woman also told police Beauchemin struck her the day before while she was driving a car.
The Connecticut native was arrested on a charge of battery on a person over the age of 65. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $3,000 bond.
