A 36-year-old woman was arrested after an alleged sexual encounter in a church parking lot with a former teen student.

Katie Carsey had been discovered in July wearing only a bra and panties while attempting to drive out of a church parking lot in Marion County.

At the time of the 4:30 a.m. discovery, Carsey told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy she was there to meet another adult male.

Meanwhile, a 15-year-old who had been in the car with Carsey, watched from the woods and then fled on foot.

Detectives learned that the then-14-year-old student and Carsey met last school year while she was working as a paraprofessional teacher’s assistant at Fort McCoy Middle School.

During the investigation, Carsey gave conflicting accounts regarding her involvement with the juvenile victim. After being presented with the facts of the investigation, Carsey confessed to having sexual contact with the juvenile victim.

The victim in this case, who is no longer a student at the school, confirmed the allegations, stating that he had been with Carsey in the church parking lot the night she was stopped by the MCSO deputy.

Carsey has been arrested and charged with one count of lewd or lascivious molestation. She was booked at the Marion County Jail. She was released after positing bond.

Anyone with information relevant to this investigation is urged to contact MCSO Major Crimes Inspector Erik Dice at (352) 368-3545.
