Nephew to have mental health evaluation after attack on aunt at World of Beer

Michael Jo Cantere Gonda

A man has been ordered to seek a mental health evaluation after an attack on his aunt in the parking lot at World of Beer.

Lady Lake police officers responded Oct. 28 to the parking lot behind World of Beer at Spanish Springs Town Square after receiving a call from the woman, who had fled the scene after the attack, according to an arrest report. She said her nephew, 33-year-old Michael Jo Cantere Gonda, of Lady Lake, had been pushing her and knocked her to the ground. She claimed she had to hit Gonda in the face with her flask to get him off of her. Gonda was arrested on a charge of domestic battery.

Last month in Lake County Court, Gonda entered a plea of no contest in the case.

He was ordered to seek a mental health evaluation and have no contact with his aunt. He was fined $512 and ordered to pay $575 in court costs. He has been placed on one year’s probation, however it could be terminated after six months if Gonda complies with the judge’s other orders.
