Ocala man killed when BMW leaves roadway, strikes tree and fence

A 55-year-old Ocala man was killed early Sunday morning when his BMW left the roadway and struck a tree and a fence.

Kerry Hopkins had been at the wheel of a 2004 BMW at 12:30 a.m. at County Road 225A and NW 120 St. when the crash occurred, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Hopkins, who had not been wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene by Marion County Fire Rescue.
