A 34-year-old Ocala man who had been lying on the roadway was struck and killed by a car Saturday night in Marion County.
The death of Jeffrey Mason is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
Randall Henges, 22, of Ocala, had been driving at 11:50 p.m. Saturday on State Road 40 when his 2004 Saturn Ion struck Mason, according to an FHP report. It is not known why Mason was in the roadway.
He was pronounced dead at Ocala Regional Medical Center.
Henges escaped injury.
