An Ocala woman was jailed after an altercation with an elderly woman over a dog on Monday afternoon.
Marion County sheriff’s deputies responded to SW 64th Ct. in reference to physical disturbance, according to an arrest report. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the victim, who advised that she and 21-year-old Kyanna Barrant-Smith were arguing, which turned physical, the report stated. The victim stated she and Barrant-Smith were arguing over Barrant-Smith wanting to take the family dog for a drive without the dog carrier. This upset the victim, and the two began to argue in the driveway, while Barrant-Smith was sitting inside her vehicle and the driver’s side door was open. At some point, Barrant-Smith started the vehicle and told the victim to move out of the way. She then put the vehicle in reverse, which caused the driver’s side door to hit the victim. The victim then called law enforcement.
Deputies then spoke with Barrant-Smith, who confirmed what the victim stated. She went on to state that she was packing up to leave and bumped into the victim, but did not put her hands on the victim, the report stated.
Deputies spoke with the victim again, regarding if Barrant-Smith pushed her, in which the victim confirmed Barrant-Smith did push her after she called law enforcement for the first time. The victim went to the spare room to get a suitcase for Barrant-Smith, and as the victim was walking out of the room, Barrant-Smith told her not to touch her stuff and shoved the victim backwards, the report said.
Barrant-Smith was placed under arrest and was transported to Marion County Jail.
