Tickets are on sale now for the annual pancake breakfast in The Villages to support the Sumter County Sheriff’s “Kids, Cops and Christmas” program.
Hosted by the Lake Sumter Landing RJ Gator’s, this year’s pancake breakfast will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, from 7 to 10 a.m. Tickets are a $6 donation and attendees are highly encouraged to purchase them in advance.
All proceeds will support the “Kids, Cops and Christmas” program. During the holiday season, this program pairs sheriff’s deputies and children to shop together for Christmas presents. And in addition to making Christmas a little brighter for some of the needy children in the area, this program also serves to build a positive relationship between law enforcement and these families.
Concurrent with the pancake breakfast, the sheriff’s office will host Operation Medicine Cabinet, a program to collect unused medications. People wanting to get rid of those medications are encouraged to stop by RJ Gator’s, located at 1015 Lake Shore Drive, where deputies will be outside the restaurant to collect them.
This is a free service, although in the past, many people dropping off medications have taken the opportunity to donate to the “Kids, Cops and Christmas” program, which is encouraged.
Tickets for the event can be purchased at the Sumter County Sheriff’s Annex from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The annex is located at 8035 County Road 466 near the intersection of Morse Boulevard in The Villages.
