Paul Brinkman Klein

Paul B. Klein, 91 years young, of The Villages, FL, passed from this life on Thursday, October 4th, 2018. Born in 1927 in La Crosse WI, son of Edwin and Amelia (Brinkman) Klein and older brother to Theodore (Ted) Klein.

Paul served his country as an Army veteran of World War II in Germany.

Following his military service, he moved to Chicago to study art. While a student (and later a graduate) of the Art Institute of Chicago, he met and married the love of his life, Nancy J. Slogenhop. His graphic arts expertise and desire to succeed resulted in a successful business career as the owner of Creative Center Advertising Agency in Chicago, IL. He won many awards for his art and many of his pieces reside in permanent collections throughout the country. He illustrated the book “Gutenberg, the Master Printer”, authored by Mary E. Gekler.

Paul and Nan resided in South Holland, IL for many years, and came to The Villages in 2000. Together, they were instrumental in the founding of The Villages CPPG (Color Pencil Painters Guild), as well as being members of The Villages Art League and Art Association. Paul also taught Pen & Ink Drawing at The Villages Life Long Learning Center.

Paul leaves his beloved wife of 68 years, Nancy J. (Slogenhop) Klein; 2 daughters, Paula Lee and husband Lawrence Eby of The Villages, FL; Corry Klein and husband Michael Clelland of London, UK; and a granddaughter, Lee Ellen and husband Cary J. Smith of Omaha NE.

Burial with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday October 24, 2018, 10 a.m., at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. A Celebration of Paul’s Life will be held following the cemetery service at Hiers-Baxley Funeral & Cremation Life Event Center 3975 Wedgewood Lane, The Villages from 2 – 4 p.m.

The family respectfully requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Cornerstone Hospice of the Villages, 601 Casa Bella, The Villages, FL.
