A 49-year-old Pennsylvania man was killed Sunday when his pickup truck hit a tree at a rest stop on Interstate 75 in Sumter County.
Thomas Kaefer of Scottdale, Pa., had been at the wheel of the truck at 12:25 p.m. when he suddenly began to accelerate, traveled onto the grassy area at the southside of the rest area building and collided with a tree, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. He died at the scene of the accident.
