Wildwood police were called at 4 a.m. Saturday to the 3000 block of Cichielo Court where a woman was sitting on the street curb and crying. She told police that her ex-boyfriend, 36-year-old William B. Barron, had struck her in the face. She said he had invited her over to try to reconcile, but when he went through the messages on her cell phone, he became enraged and grabbed her by the throat, according to an arrest report. She was able to free herself from his grip and headed for her car. Barron reached into the car and again grabbed her by the throat and struck her in the face.

When EMS arrived on the scene to treat the woman’s injuries, the officer headed to 3104 Carter Path, one street north of where the woman had been located, to talk to Barron.

He said the woman had been at the residence and he had told her to leave. He denied any physical altercation had taken place. The officer noted that it smelled as if Barron had been drinking.

Barron was arrested on two counts of battery and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. He was released Sunday afternoon after posting $6,000 bond.

Barron joined Properties of The Villages family this year.  He is a native of Uniontown, Pa. and a graduate of Pennsylvania State University, according to his biography on the Properties of The Villages website.
