Marion County sheriff’s deputies arrested an Ocklawaha woman Wednesday after a crew of firefighters called for help.
When deputies made contact with the crew from Marion County Fire Rescue in the 15700 block of SE 182nd Avenue Road, a lieutenant told them he had received a call about a woman passed out in a red vehicle in the area of Buck & Does convenience store on SE Hwy. 42. The lieutenant said they didn’t see the vehicle in the area, but as they started to return to their station, a red Cadillac driven by a woman later identified as 35-year-old Lindsay Ann Zastrow came out of SE 155th Street and almost hit three children while turning south on SE 182nd Avenue Road, a sheriff’s office report states.
The lieutenant also said that Zastrow continued to drive erratically before stopping on a dirt road. He said he made contact with Zastrow and removed the keys from the ignition, adding that there was “no apparent medical issues” and it appeared she “was under the influence,” the report says.
Deputies located Zastrow a short time later still sitting in the Cadillac. When asked for her driver’s license, she opened her wallet and “fumbled” to retrieve it. She told deputies that she hadn’t been sleeping well “but there is currently nothing wrong with her medically,” the report says, adding that a check of her license showed that it was suspended.
Zastrow failed field sobriety tests and told deputies that she had not been drinking but does take an opioid supplement prescribed to her called Subutex. And she admitted that she knew her license was suspended, the report says.
Zastrow was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where she blew a 0.00 on a breath test. The deputy noted that he believed Zastrow “was under the influence of an unknown substance” and requested that she submit to a urine test, which she refused to do. She was then charged with driving under the influence/refusing to submit to a DUI test and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Zastrow, who has been in the Marion County Jail six times since April 2009, was being held on $10,000 bond and is due in a Marion County courtroom on Jan. 11 at 1:30 p.m. to answer to the charges.
