Richard Lee Carpenter, 83, of Fruitland Park, FL, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away Monday, September 10, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his four children. He was born July 21, 1935 in Marietta, Ohio, the son of Lee and Madeline Carpenter.
Rich was a high school basketball player; served in the U.S. Air Force and worked for American Airlines for 33 years before retiring to Florida.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife Gladys Marie Carpenter and son Richard Dean Carpenter. Survivors include his four children-daughters Kathreen Kaufmann, Diana Burmann, and sons Dennis Carpenter and Douglas Carpenter; eight grandchildren- Beth Carlson, April Eichmiller, Elizabeth Van Treeck, Tina Chouait, Robert Kaufmann, Andrea Kaufmann, Jessica Hynds and Nathan Burmann; Ten great grandchildren- Laila Chouait, Sabrina Chouait, Tarik Chouait, Willa Carlson, Quinn Carlson, Julieta Carlson, Carolina Eichmiller, Lee Eichmiller, Veronica Eichmiller and Kiera Vantreeck.
A viewing will be held on Friday, September 14, 2018 at Beyers Funeral Home Chapel, 1123 W. Main St., Leesburg, FL 34748 from 9 – 10 a.m. with a service to follow at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Shiloh Cemetery, Fruitland Park, FL.
