Shirley Cook, 82, of Summerfield, FL, passed away on May 15, 2017. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama and was married to the late James B. Cook.
Mrs. Cook retired from the Alabama Power Company as a Requisition Administrator prior to the couple moving to Spruce Creek in 1994. A busy participant in community activities, she was an active member of the Community United Methodist Church in Fruitland Park, officer in the Dixie Club, a member of the Pretenders, and the Red Hat Society. She loved playing Bridge and Mah Jongg.
Surviving are her son James B. Cook, of Pell City, Alabama, granddaughters, Tressa Gray (Jeremy), and Andrea Cook, great granddaughter, Willa Gray and great grandson Joseph Gray.
Memorial services will be held Monday May 22, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 1511 Buenos Aires Boulevard, The Villages. Her final resting place will be the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at a later date.
