Summerfield man dies in fiery crash after his Mercedes crosses center line

A 35-year-old Summerfield man died in a fiery crash Monday morning after his Mercedes crossed the center line of County Road 42 in Marion County.

Jason Richard Burridge had been at the wheel of a silver 2013 Mercedes C250 at 11:57 a.m. traveling westbound on County Road 42 just east of SE 130 Avenue when his vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a Toyota 4Runner driven by 69-year-old Robert Ross Blystone of Murphy, N.C., according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Both vehicles were blocking traffic on County Road 42 when a fire broke out. It was extinguished by Marion County Fire Rescue.

Burridge was pronounced dead at the scene.

Blystone and a passenger in his vehicle, 68-year-old Marina Richardson also of Murphy, N.C., both suffered serious injuries and were transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center.
