Summerfield woman reports gun safe, television stolen in burglary

A gun safe and television were reportedly stolen from a woman’s home in Summerfield.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded to a  residence located on SE 87 Court in reference to a residential burglary and grand theft, according to an incident report. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the victim who advised that between 4 a.m. on Monday and 1 p.m. on Tuesday, someone broke into her residence and stole two items. The victim stated she was in the process of moving and when she left Monday, her gun safe and television were in the residence. When she returned to the residence on Tuesday, both items were gone. The estimated loss for both items is $950, the report stated.

The victim showed the deputy where the unknown suspect attempted to pry the back door open, causing approximately $50 in damages. She then directed the deputy to an open window that had been locked when the victim left on Monday.
