Two escape early morning mobile home blaze in Silver Springs

Two Silver Springs residents were transported to a local hospital early Monday morning after escaping from a burning mobile home.

Crews from Marion County Fire Rescue responded to a mobile home blaze in the Silver Springs area early Monday morning.

Marion County Fire Rescue units responded to the blaze near NE 167th Avenue after receiving a 911 call from the residence. During the call for help, the only audible communication the dispatcher heard was someone yelling to get of the house because it was on fire.

The first engine arrived on scene at 12:47 a.m. to find the mobile home about 50 percent involved in flames. Marion County Fire Rescue paramedics treated the residents before they were transported to the hospital. And firefighters then performed a thorough search to assure there were no other victims inside the structure.

Firefighters had the blaze that destroyed a Silver Springs mobile home early Monday morning under control in less than 30 minutes.

Additional Marion County Fire Rescue units were called in to help battle the blaze, which was deemed under control shortly after 1 a.m. One of the family’s dogs escaped the burning residence but another was found deceased during overhaul operations, a report states.

All told, personnel from 15 Marion County Fire Rescue units battled the blaze. The cause remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal and Marion County Fire Rescue’s fire marshal.
