Unwanted kiss could land Citra middle school student in jail

A school resource officer at North Marion Middle School was called Thursday after a female student claimed that another student had kissed her without permission.

The girl’s mother told the resource officer, who is a Marion County sheriff’s deputy, that she wanted to discuss the situation with her daughter prior to making a decision about whether to press charges in what could lead to an arrest for battery.

The grandmother of the other student also was made aware of the incident at the school, which is located at 2085 W Hwy. 329 in Citra, a sheriff’s office report states.
