Village of Belvedere man to submit to drug screens to avoid prosecution on marijuana charge

A Village of Belvedere man has agreed to submit to drug screens to avoid prosecution on a marijuana charge. Ronald Edward Blue, 35, had been driving a 2006 Ford van at about 8 p.m. Aug. 1 on County Road 466 when a Lady Lake police officer noticed the decal on his license plate had expired. During a traffic stop, an officer detected the smell of marijuana coming from the van. Marijuana was discovered in three small clear baggies that weighed 14.2 grams. He was issued a notice to appear in court to answer to the marijuana possession charge. He was also cited for having an expired license plate.

Last month in Lake County Court, Blue agreed to enter into a pre-trial intervention agreement in order to avoid prosecution.

The agreement calls for Blue to take part in education classes or face suspension of his driver’s license. He will also need to provide two clean drug screens 30 days apart. In addition, he will need to pay $50 for the cost of prosecution.
