A 59-year-old Villager was arrested after she allegedly threw a cup of cream soda on a man with whom she lives.

A Sumter County sheriff’s deputy was called to Bob Evans restaurant on County Road 466 at 6:30 a.m. Sunday. There the deputy met a man who lives at a home on Woodridge Drive with 59-year-old Debra Freeman.

He said he had been trying to gather items to leave the residence when Freeman began spitting on him, according to an arrest report. He locked himself in a car in the driveway, hoping Freedom would calm down. He then got out, went inside and poured cream soda into a 32-ounce Styrofoam cup. He walked back to his vehicle and Freeman grabbed the cup of soda and threw it at him, the report indicated. She began hitting him and scratched his left shoulder.

She was arrested on a charge of battery and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. Bond was set at $1,000.

The man has filed for an order of protection in Sumter County Court.
