Villagers for Veterans to host ‘Bob Hope & Friends’ to raise money for injured vet’s home

Bill Johnson portrays the legendary Bob Hope

Villagers for Veterans is gearing up for a fundraiser that will help build a home for a wounded veteran.

The event, titled “Bob Hope & Friends,” will be held May 24 at 7 p.m. at Savannah Center. Proceeds from the event will go toward the construction of a smart house for Army Sgt. Pam Kelly, who became a quadriplegic in 2002 while on active duty.

The “Bob Hope & Friends” show, which has been performed in Las Vegas, Atlantic City and New Orleans, features well-known Bob Hope impersonator Bill Johnson alongside celebrity impersonator Holly Faris.

Johnson regularly appears at BB’s Stage Door Canteen on the campus of the World War II Museum in New Orleans in sell-out productions of “Thanks for the Memories: Bob Hope and his All-Star Pacific Tour.” He also has performed his tribute to Hope and the troops across the United States and the South Pacific to rave reviews.

Holly Faris as Marilyn Monroe

Faris has thrilled audiences across the country with her assortment of comedy and celebrity impersonations, including Marilyn Monroe, Phyllis Diller, Joan Rivers, Tina Turner, Cher, Dolly Parton, Liza Minelli, Bette Midler and many others.

Tickets for the event are $25 and are available at The Villages Box Office and online at thevillagesentertainment.com.

In April, more than 300 guests attended Villagers for Veterans’ Fourth Annual Orchid Gala at the Savannah Center. That sold-out event provided the funds to purchase a residential lot in the Historic section of The Villages where Kelly’s home will be built.
