Villages of Fruitland Park providing big boost to Lake County tax rolls

Lake County’s tax roll received a massive boost this year from new construction, much of it in the Villages of Fruitland Park.

Lake County Property Appraiser Carey Baker has announced that new home and business construction is adding more than $603 million in taxable value to the 2017 tax roll.  This represents a 27 percent increase over the prior year new construction of $475 million.

“This is the largest amount of new construction added to the tax roll since 2008 and the fifth year in a row new construction has been a driver of tax roll growth for the county and many cities. We added 3,074 new residential homes to the roll this year,” said Baker.

This is up from 2,454 homes last year.

The Property Appraiser’s 2017 Best Estimate of Taxable Value for the Lake County General Fund is up 7.92 percent from last year and the Lake County School Board is up 7.95%. All cities throughout the county are up in value with the South Lake region of Groveland and Minneola outpacing most other areas. However, for the second year, the City of Fruitland Park tops the list of all cities in Lake County with 52.5 percent growth in its taxable value. This is due to the sheer number and dollar value of more new homes in the Villages of Fruitland Park being added to the tax roll.
