The Villages Musical Theater is honoring the service of one of its most dedicated members – Sandie Hawthorne.
Hawthorne has been part of The Villages theater scene since coming here 14 years ago – and she still is going strong.
Hawthorne was selected this month as “Member of the Year” by the VMT. In March, Hawthorne directs “South Pacific,” which, coincidentally was the first big musical produced by local Villagers back in 2002.
Hawthorne is proud to be a part of that history.
“Receiving the designation ‘Member of the Year’ by The Villages Musical Theater is an honor for me,” she said. “I’ve been enjoying my 14 years of retirement with a fantastic group of people here in The Villages and we share a similar passion for all areas of theater.
“Whether serving on the board of directors or directing Broadway musicals, it is always a thrill to receive recognition from your peers. What I have come to know is volunteerism is most rewarding in your retirement years, and I’m hoping to continue for years to come.”
