The Villages Pops Chorus is back and is hosting a summer event to take Villagers’ minds off the heat.
“Listen to the Music” will be presented Monday, July 30 at North Lake Presbyterian Church at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at all Villages Box Office locations and online at thevillagesenterainment.com. Tickets also will be available at the door if the shows aren’t sold out.
The Pops Chorus and Pops Chorus Band will be joined by a special guest artist, harmonica virtuoso Phil Caltabellotta. He will join the chorus on “What a Wonderful World” and will perform selections with the band as well.
Other great songs will include “The Power of Love” by Huey Lewis and the News and “My Heart Will Go On” from the 1997 blockbuster movie “Titanic.”
Those attending also can expect to hear such classics as “Skylark,” “Ain’t That a Kick in the Head” and the Bee Gees’ smash hit “How Deep Is Your Love.” And there will be plenty of other fun songs from the 1960s as well.
The show will feature a a 12-piece band comprised of some of the best musicians in The Villages who will accompany the 125-voice chorus. And as usual, the Pops Chorus promises a concert full of fun that will raise spirits and have those in attendance tapping their toes and humming along.
Proceeds from the concerts will benefit Villagers for Veterans and New Vision for Independence. All told, The Villages Pops Chorus has contributed more than $83,000 to local charities since 2014.
