Villages Twirlers, Segway Riders shine in Citrus Bowl Parade

This year’s 2017 Citrus Bowl Parade in Downtown Orlando, Florida was chock-full of the marching formations and drum beats we have seen and heard from The Villages Twirlers and Drum Corps in years past.

But this year, the Twirlers were joined by some of their Villages neighbors.

The Segway Riders Club of The Villages made their first appearance in the annual parade, much to the delight of the thousands of spectators in attendance.

Both groups represented The Villages in fine fashion, drawing cheers and support from the crowd all up and down Orange Avenue.

This year’s Citrus Bowl will feature a showdown between perennial giants Notre Dame and LSU on New Year’s Day.

One of the grand marshal’s at this year’s parade was former Notre Dame Coach and current ESPN Analyst Lou Holtz.

Both the LSU and Notre Dame marching bands could be heard for blocks as they filled the air with raucous chants for their respective schools.
