Buffet restaurant in Ocala shut down for lack of sneeze guards to protect food

A buffet restaurant in Ocala was shut down last week for a lack of sneeze guards protecting food.

A health inspector found many other violations on June 11 at the Grace Buffet Restaurant at 7859 SW Hwy. 200, according to a report on file with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

Insects and food temperature problems also were discovered by the inspector.

“Approximately 5 live flying insects at the kitchen area, also multiple glue strips with dead flying insect above prep areas,” the inspector wrote in the report.

Food had been thawed out and stored at room temperature. Clam, mussel and oyster tags had not been marked with last date served.

There were also insufficient handwashing facilities supplied to employees, including no handwash sink in the sushi bar room. Also at the sushi bar area, salmon, Krab and cream cheese were not date marked as required.
