A Whirlpool Corporation public relations official told Villages-News.com on Friday said that she personally had no knowledge of problems with refrigerators exploding and triggering fires.
“We take this report very seriously and wish to look into the situation,” said Kristine Sherman, Whirlpool’s senior manager of global media and public relations.
When asked if Whirlpool has received similar reports, Sherman said she did not know.
“I am not the expert,” she said.
Meanwhile, the windows at the home on Thunderbird Way have been boarded up and the homeowners have been forced to find other lodging.
The model number of the refrigerator in question is WRS32FDAM.
