Habaneros Mexican Grill coming to Southern Trace Plaza

Family-owned Habaneros Mexican Grill is coming to Southern Trace Plaza in The Villages.

The restaurant will be moving into the former Crispers location which shut down on Saturday.

Habaneros Mexican Grill is expected to open in November.

The first Habaneros Mexican Grill opened in 1999 at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.The family went on to open restaurants in Leesburg, Winter Park, Longwood, Oviedo, Sanford and North Fort Myers.

Their menu appeals to a variety of tastes.

• Couples can share Fajitas Habaneros for Two with chorizo, shrimp, chicken, steak, bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, smothered with cheese. Served with rice, beans, salad and tortillas for $24.95.

• Enchilada lovers can indulge in White Enchiladas which offers three enchiladas, one chicken, one shredded beef and one cheese, topped with melted cheese sauce. Served with rice, lettuce and sour cream. The dish is priced at $12.25.

• If you like seafood, you might want to order Shrimp Chipolte which offers grilled shrimp smothered with chipotle cheese sauce. Served with rice and beans for $13.95.

• If you’re a beef eater, Bistec Vallarta is a rib-eye steak cooked with zucchini and mushrooms. Served with rice and beans with cheese sauce for $14.25.

• And vegetarians have several dishes from which to choose, including Sincronizada which offers a tortilla sandwich stuffed with mushrooms, spinach, cheese, onions, tomatoes, chopped avocados and sliced jalapeno peppers. Served with rice for $10.95.
