To the Editor:
I would like to pose a question. What should our response be to the folks in the caravan walking to our border?
Granted there are probably folks in the group that would wish us harm, but by the same token there are folks who are trying to provide for their families. We have high employment right now so there are jobs waiting to be filled by unskilled laborers.
The people who are attempting to come are not European, African or Oriental, therefore look different than some of us. English is not their primary language.
They are not illegals because they have not violated any immigration other laws of our country. They are asking for asylum from the “shit hole” country that they currently are citizens. If your neighbor was being abused and ran to your door for help would you turn him or her away and say go home and try and work it out?
Do we have a moral responsibility to help our fellow man? If so at what cost?
