Wildwood commissioners Monday night approved a $6.6 million contract to build the Oxford Water Treatment Plant.
Eight companies submitted bids to build the plant on the west side of U.S. 301 about a quarter mile south of County Road 466.
Low bidder and winner of the contract was TLC Diversified Technologies of Palmetto, a company that specializes in water and wastewater construction projects.
Commissioners also approved seeking a loan to cover construction costs from a state revolving loan fund for drinking water facilities. The loan would be repaid with revenues by 2031.
They also authorized a payment of $293,000 to consultant Kimley-Horn and Associates to supervise construction and submission of the loan application.
The property recently was rezoned to allow public facilities.
The water treatment plant is needed due to Wildwood’s residential and business growth in the Oxford area, which has increased water demand.
In other business, commissioners rescheduled their first monthly meeting to 9 a.m. on the second Monday, beginning in May. The second monthly meeting will continue to be held at 7 p.m. on the fourth Monday.
