A woman is serving a 10-day jail sentence in connection with a drunk driving arrest after an evening of drinking at the Waterfront Inn at Lake Sumter Landing.
Teresa Lynn Snyder, 44, of Ocala, shortly after 10 p.m. July 24 came to a stop in the middle of the intersection at County Road 466 and U.S. 301, attracting the attention of Sumter County sheriff’s deputies. A deputy approached Snyder’s vehicle and found that her speech was slurred and slow and there was the smell of alcohol coming from her mouth, according to the arrest report.
Snyder told deputies she had left the Waterfront Inn and was on her way home.
During field sobriety exercises, Snyder made “antagonizing faces” at a deputy and lost her balance. She refused to provide a breath sample. A criminal history check revealed that she had been convicted in 2016 for failure to submit to a breath test in Marion County.
This past week in Sumter County Court, Synder pleaded no contest in the case. She was sentenced to 10 days in jail and will lose her driver’s license for five years. She was placed on probation for 11 months and ordered to perform 80 hours of community service.
She began serving her sentence on Tuesday at the Sumter County Detention Center.
