A Yalaha woman was arrested near The Villages on Thursday night after a Marion County sheriff’s deputy noticed that the license tag on her vehicle had expired.
When the deputy stopped the black Ford sedan on S Hwy. 441 near SE Hwy. 42 in Summerfield, 31-year-old Tiffany Meshay Kirkowski told him that she didn’t have her driver’s license with her. When asked if she had a valid license, Kirkowski said she did not, a sheriff’s office report states.
A computer check of Kirkowski’s driving record showed that she had three prior convictions for driving with a suspended license – Feb. 17, 2016 and April 25, 2016 in Sumter County; and Feb. 8, 2017 in Marion County. The check also showed that Kirkowski has “multiple suspensions.” And her license and driving privileges had been revoked as a habitual offender for 60 months starting on March 20, 2017, the report says.
Kirkowski was transported to the Marion County Jail and charged with driving with a suspended license (habitual offender). She was being held on $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 18 at 9 a.m. to answer to the charge.
Kirkowski is no stranger to the Marion County legal system, having been housed in the jail four times since August 2013. Prior to Thursday’s incident, her most recent arrest came Aug. 17 when she was picked up on warrants for petit theft and a prior offense of driving with a suspended or revoked license. She was kept in the jail until Sept. 5 after that arrest.
