A sinkhole shut down a section of a busy roadway in The Villages.
The sinkhole opened up on New Year’s Eve on Hillsborough Trail near the Hillsborough Pool.
The roadway was blocked off and Community Watch remained on the scene New Year’s Day. Motorists arriving at the Village of Hillsborough gate were met by Community Watch and advised of their limited options traveling on Hillsborough Trail.
All other drivers are advised to avoid the area.
