Betty Anderson is thrilled to have her Club Car golf cart back after it was stolen Tuesday night from her home on the Historic Side of The Villages.
A man had been spotted in her Club Car golf cart at about noon Thursday across U.S. Hwy. 441 in Belleview, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
The deputy watched the man pull the golf cart into a parking lot. When the deputy asked the man for his name, he gave a false identity. When the deputy went back to his squad car to try to determine the man’s identity on his computer, the man fled on foot into a wooded area. The man was apprehended and found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

He was identified as 32-year-old James Justin Adams.
He admitted he had tried to give the deputy a false name because he knew he was wanted on a warrant. He was also driving on a suspended license.
He told deputies he had been living in the woods near the Wal-Mart in Summerfield when a girl named “Tiffany” showed up in the golf cart.
He has been arrested on multiple charges including grand theft and possession of methamphetamine.
He was booked at the Marion County Jail.
Anderson’s golf cart was delivered to her home on Friday.
It had been crudely spray painted and the numbers were chiseled off, she said. Getting the golf cart towed back to her home cost Anderson $205.
