A woman already on probation was arrested Saturday after allegedly taking items from Wal-Mart at Buffalo Ridge without paying for them.
Terry Ann McLeod, 45, of Summerfield, was arrested at 3:23 p.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. She allegedly concealed items in her purse and left the store without paying for them. She had paid for other merchandise, the report indicated. She was walking out of the store when a loss prevention officer ordered her to stop. She ran to her vehicle and fled the parking lot, but left her purse behind.

A woman with her, 34-year-old April Lynn Adkins of Summerfield, was detained by the loss prevention officer while McLeod fled. Adkins was found to have $60.93 in merchandise in her purse. She was arrested on a charge of shoplifting and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. She was released after posting $500 bond.
McLeod later returned to the store. She said she and Adkins had spent all the money they had and could not afford the additional merchandise they stole. McLeod was already on probation in a Marion County grand theft case. She was booked without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.
