Two local watercolor artists have been selected to have their work shown at the Florida Watercolor Society 42nd Annual Exhibition at the Art Center Sarasota.

The honored local artists are Susan Donohoe of the Village of Mallory and Jackii Molsick of Yalaha. Molsick and her husband own FloorMasters at 9581 U.S. 301 North, between County Road 466 and County Road 466A.

The Florida Watercolor Society is one of the largest watercolor societies in the country. Competition to get into the show is stiff. There were nearly 600 entries, and only 100 paintings were selected.

The exhibit runs through Oct. 25 in Sarasota.

When FWS’ Annual Exhibition closes in Sarasota in October, about 30 entries will continue on to another exhibition at the Appleton Museum in Ocala. That exhibition will open at the Appleton on Nov. 23.

Donohoe, who paints under the name SusanJane, will see her work, “Break Time,” travel to the Appleton.

It was a bit surprising to receive the honor, she said, because she is still fairly new to watercolor art.

“I guess you might say I wanted to take it on because it was difficult,” she said.

This is the second time, Molsick’s work has been selected for the FWS annual show.

“After a third time within 10 years, I will hopefully acquire my ‘signature’ status and be able to sign the FWS initials after my name on my artwork,” Molsick said.
