Abdelwahab Kandah was fatally wounded at about 10 p.m. Aug. 20 in the parking lot of his mini mart convenience store on Kilgore Street in Wildwood.
Quentel Jermaine Williams of Wildwood was arrested nine days after the shooting. Williams faces charges of first-degree homicide, attempted robbery with a firearm, shooting into an occupied conveyance (vehicle.)
Employees at two convenience stores owned by Kandah in Wildwood described him as a terrific, hardworking boss and loving father. They said they have been deeply saddened by the tragedy.

Kandah was driving a van and pulling away from his store when he was reportedly confronted by Williams who was armed with a semi-automatic handgun. Kandah was reported to have been shot at least two times and his van rolled into a tree.
Williams is said to immediately have fled on foot. But tips to law enforcement eventually led investigators to Williams who allegedly fled to Orlando and was attempting to receive treatment for injuries suffered in the shooting incident.
