Ed Fletcher defeated Ron Clark in the finals of the Villages Match Play Championship Thursday at Cane Garden Country Club by a score of 1-UP after 18 holes.
Ed had 2 birdies, 15 pars and 1 bogey, while Ron had 1 birdie, 16 pars and 1 bogey. The match was very close throughout with both players having numerous chances for birdie.
Ed can now add this to his large array of accomplishments on the golf course.
Ed was the Massachusetts State Amateur at one point in his career. He has also won three Club Championships at Cane Garden Country Club, as well as the Villages Tournament of Clubs Champion, the Villages Championship, and numerous Village Cups with Cane Garden.
In the consolation match Greg Hightman defeated Dan Chiappetta taking 3rd place.
All players were very appreciative of the large crowd that followed the matches today at Cane Garden.
