U.S. Army veteran Eric Lanier was on his way to his first day of work at his new job when he heard the dreaded “crash.”
He was on Morse Boulevard not far from the San Marino intersection waiting to turn left at 11:50 a.m. Tuesday when his vehicle was rearended.
It was the first day of his new job at Down to Earth Inc., a golf course maintenance company.
The 28-year-old from Tavares served as a military police officer in Germany, Kuwait and Colorado.
The other vehicle involved in the accident was a van from ABC Fredericks Appliance driven by Matthew L. McLenbon of Summerfield. He was charged with careless driving, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
