Actor Gavin MacLeod, best known as Capt. Stubing on “The Love Boat,” will be appearing in The Villages as part of a national book tour on Wednesday at Barnes & Noble at Lake Sumter Landing.
This week he has appeared on the “Today” show and in USA Today.
The 82-year-old actor enjoyed a long career in television.
His memoir, This Is Your Captain Speaking: My Fantastic Voyage Through Hollywood, Faith & Life, was released Tuesday.
His local appearance will be at 7 p.m. He will be signing copies of his book and be available for a question-and-answer session.
His book looks at his early career on “McHale’s Navy” (when he battled depression and alcoholism), his audition for the role of Archie Bunker on “All in the Family” and his encounters with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars including Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Ronald Reagan, Steve McQueen, Bette Davis and Robert Redford.
This is not MacLeod’s first visit to Florida’s Friendliest Hometown. He previously spoke at the Villages Polo Fields in an appearance sponsored by a cruise line.
