Villager Dave Johnson, his son Jeff, and two buddies from the Leather Necks Dragon Boat team will set off Monday morning on a 400-mile trek for Hope For The Warriors.
Dave’s wife Judy will crew for the team which plans to bicycle to Pensacola to raise money for Hope For the Warriors.
Seventy-three-year-old Johnson was awarded the Purple Heart for his service in Vietnam.
“These guys coming back are having a hard time,” he said. “I wanted to do something to help.”
Riding along with Johnson and his son will be Villagers Garf Cooper and Robert Saltsman.
The mission of Hope For the Warriors is to enhance the quality of life for post-9/11 service members, their families, and families of the fallen who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty.
