PACERS WIN STREAK AT TEN; MAGIC NUMBER FOR TITLE NOW “1″;
GRIND GRIZZLIES 13-7; DEL VECCHIO/PERRAULT HOT HITTERS
Lamar Young’s Pacer’s (16-2) are within one win of Championship after beating the Grizzlies (6-12) 13-7. Bob Del Vecchio and Don Perrault pounded out four hits each for winning pitcher Tom Lee.
Pete Zesinger had two hits and two rbi’s for the Grizzlies.
CELTICS TAME BOBCATS IN 8 INNINGS 11-10;
FRANK ILCHISIN & BILL OAR BASH HOMERS
The Celtics (11-8) were forced to come from behind three times to beat the Bobcats (5-14) in the bottom of the eight inning 11-10 on a walkoff hit by George Jackson. Frank Ilchisin and Bill Oar had back-to-back homers in the third inning for winning pitcher Bill Bonk who helped himself with three hits. Dominic Fucile also had three hits for the Celts. Manager Don Barry commented about George Koblas who was injureon a hard fall going into first base: “I called George when I got home, and he sounded pretty good. Hopefully he will be okay; he is such a big part of the team.”
Pitcher Ed Meyer, Dick Clapp and Dennis Winchester all had three hits for the Cats.
