Jimmy Conner was selected Tuesday morning as the new chairman of the Lake County Commission.
Conner represents District 3 and succeeds commissioner Leslie Campione as chair. Sean Parks of District 2 was selected as vice chair.
Both selections were unanimous.
In her last official act as chair, Campione announced a new branding campaign in her State of the County address this morning.
Campione, in a video presentation that preceded the regular county commission meeting, pointed to an upswing in the county’s economy. She said that the county’s unemployment rate is now below the state’s unemployment rate.
She stopped short of declaring victory, but indicated that the county is on the right track.
“We are on a really positive track right now. We have made a lot of progress, but we still have a lot to do.”
