Results from Div. 2 Dave Stusse Memorial Tournament – Friday Dec. 6th
Dodgers 13 – Padres 7
The Dodgers took control of the game with 5 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning to take to a 10 – 6 lead and held the Padres to 1 run the rest of the way. Norm Charrette and Paul Justice lead the way with 3 hits each for the Dodger blue. Pitcher/Manager Bruce Forrester picked up the win. The Padres started with 5 runs in the first, but the bats went cool with only 2 runs crossing the plate the rest of the way. Carmine D’Agostino was 3 for 3 with 2 doubles for the Padres.
Rockies 21 – Pirates 4
The Rockies jumped on the Pirates early and often pushing 14 runs across thru 4 and added another 4 in the 5th and 3 in the 6th. Super Sub / Pitcher Jim Glover was 3 for 3 as well as Denis Hodge. George Loew, Brian Blake and MGR. Sante Tulli had 3 hits each. Rich Hopkins had 3 hits and Jim Carter and Jim Joseph had 2 hits each for the Pirates.
Brewers 11 – Braves 4
The Brewers pushed across 11 runs thru 6 innings and held the Braves scoreless until the 7th when the Braves put together 3 hits to drive in a run. Jim Creed had 3 hits for winning pitcher Ken Semmel. Four other Brewers had 2 hits each. The Braves got 2 hits from Tom Green.
Mets 8 – Marlins 7
The 8th place Mets upset the 6th seed Marlins. The Mets trailed 7 – 4 thru 5, but the bats woke up and they scored 4 runs in the top of the 6th. That would be all they would need as the Marlins could only muster 2 hit the last 2 innings. Ray Donovan had a 3 for 3 day and Tim Healey chipped in with 3 hits to support winning pitcher Gary Luck. Bob Holbert and (sub) Reno Seculla were 3 for 3 for the Marlins.
