Harbor Chase of Villages Crossing, managed by Harbor Retirement Associates LLC (HRA) of Vero Beach and located on US 27/441 (across from the Villages Regional Hospital, looks to open their doors as close to Jan. 15 as possible. The new golf-cart accessible assisted living community, which boasts nearly 100 rooms, offers a plethora of amenities to keep residents’ lifestyles akin to the active lives they’ve grown accustomed to in The Villages, including four different floor plans in both their assisted living and memory care apartments.
“We wanted to build to the market of active seniors who respond to the life enrichment programs and wellness initiatives of our community. [The Villages] is definitely a more active, independent community, so The Villages was just the right spot for us” said Jenny Phillips, executive director of the new facility. “We will have live entertainment coming into the community, and will also provide transportation for all residents to visit the many events in The Villages.”
To facilitate the transition into the community, Harbor Chase representatives make house calls to sit down and speak with potential residents. They provide tours (and transportation to/from the tours), and even go as far as to help with the move from one’s house to their property. “Every family is different. We try and spend as much time as possible to give them as much support as they need, and figure out what is important to the family during this transition,” said Phillips. To ensure the safety of their residents, Harbor Chase offers a GPS locator (provided by Status Solutions) that offers residents the option to push a button to be located by staff.
The community boasts a collection of new, higher-tech features, including full access WiFi on all premises, and a resident business center. Residents can log on to computers/the Internet at any time to accommodate their different schedules. There is also a designated “Skype” area, which will enable residents to video-chat with friends and family members. And for those who enjoy gaming, the facility will have a “Wii,” as well as a three-lane bowling alley, putting green, and a theater room.
In addition to the new features Harbor Chase has to offer, they will also offer top-notch medical assistance to their residents. Their nursing staff is licensed in extended congregate care (ECC), and will be available 24 hours a day to help residents with any and every medical concern within the scope of their ECC licensing. For additional medical needs, visiting physicians specializing in all fields will make trips to the community.
Harbor Chase strives to be an independent community that offers everything a resident could want or ask for. “[We want residents to] truly feel that they’re walking into an independent living community. They can bring cars and golf carts to visit places, and we will have full access and full amenities” said Phillips. “They can live here with everything they could possibly need!”
