The Belvedre Library will close Wednesday, Jan. 29 for a major expansion.

The Villages Public Library at Belvedere will be closed beginning Wednesday, Jan. 29 in preparation for construction that will expand the existing building.

On Dec. 10, 2013, the Sumter County Board of County Commissioners awarded and entered into contract with RAM Construction & Development LLC for the Library’s expansion.

The expansion will double the size of the library by adding an additional 5,850 square feet. The additional space will be used to double the shelving space for a larger collection, double the number of public computers, increase the size of the community meeting room, and provide a dedicated children’s room.

Starting on Wednesday, patrons of the Villages Public Library at Belvedere will be able to pickup holds and return items at the Villages Public Library at Pinellas Plaza.

The Villages Public Library at Belvedere will reopen in Fall 2014.
