The Sumter Scenic Heritage Byway opened for business this past weekend and many were there to ring in the new historic site. The opening of the byway was kicked off at Dade Battlefield Historic Park on January 25, 2014. The 80-acre park, which commemorates the beginning of the Second Seminole War in 1835, is one of the many landmarks that are apart of the byway.
In total, the new byway runs 62 miles, and connects farmlands, cattle ranches, horse farms, and open fields, while also passing through small towns to highlight the lush scenery that Sumter County has to offer. The recently renovated Bushnell Historic Courthouse is also apart of the tour. Read more about the Bushnell Historic Courthouse by clicking here.
