After a successful opening of Paradise Park Area A, Paradise Park Area B is in the final stages of planning. Kimley-Horn, the design-consulting firm at the helm of the project, is in the design phase of the park extension and reports that design completion should be complete soon. The firm reports the bidding process for construction of the facilities is tentatively scheduled for sometime in May or June of this year.
“We are finalizing the details on the exercise equipment. We are working with Recreation on what specific equipment they want to use based on input they’ve received,” said Amber Gartner, a representative of Kimley-Horn. After completion of the final details, the site plan will be submitted to the Town of Lady Lake for approval and will receive bids beginning early this summer, with construction scheduled to take place over the summer months.
District Manager Janet Tutt indicated that although construction will not begin until this summer, the landscape architects have advised that some of the trees at the site must be pruned and lifted to preserve them. “If you see work going on at Area B, it is because it’s for the well-being and health of those trees,” said Tutt.
Gartner confirmed that a fence and gate would be included in the planning of the new area, similar to the features implemented in the newly opened Area A. She also confirmed that there would be two sidewalks connecting Areas A and B with each other and with Paradise Recreation Center. One sidewalk will run along Paradise Drive to connect to the existing golf cart parking lot in Area A, and the other will connect to the Paradise Recreation Center near the existing bocce courts.
