Gary Kadow is Founder and Chairman of Project SOS – Support Our Soldiers, Inc. Project SOS-Support Our Soldiers, Inc. is a 501(c)3 Charity, and is also a Registered Charity with the State of Florida which enables it to solicit donations in Florida. Unlike many charities, members that volunteer for the corporation agree not to accept any compensation or reimbursement for their expenses. With the exception of office supplies and other minor necessities, every dollar received goes directly to help disabled and homeless veterans and their families.

Since its inception in 2012, Project SOS has awarded 42 motorized wheelchairs to disabled veterans in the tri-county area, and currently provides food, water, clothing, shelter and medical care to homeless veterans and their families living in the Ocala National Forest, as well as other areas of Central Florida.

Kadow’s inspiration behind starting Project SOS came from his son-in-law, Ronnie Smith. Before retirement, Ronnie spent 22 years as a 1st Sergeant in the US Army Rangers, serving in Mogadishu, Iraq, and Afghanistan. From Ronnie, Kadow learned what it was like on the front lines, and what was needed to treat wounded and children caught in the middle of conflicts. As a result, in only two years time Project SOS opened 22 forward operations base clinics in Iraq and Afghanistan and a ten bed children’s hospital in Jalalabad, Afghanistan.

The Board of Directors of Project SOS is comprised of top business professionals and military leaders from the Tri-county area. There are nine members, all of who are “working” members. Many take frequent trips into the forest to feed the homeless veterans and their children.
