CELTICS-16      THUNDER-15

WWW GAME: Hi Guys,
That stands for Wild-Willy&Windy. I will take the win. Nothing was routine in this game, it was an adventure especially in the outfield. We had some good hitting, Bob Logterman, Don Barry,Dave Snow & Gordie Nicholson all were 3/4. Charlie Riggs and Frank Maday 2/3, good hitting guys. The Thunders manager Terry Penrod played a smart game against our power hitting team, switching and rotating players accordingly, but in the end it came down to an error and we managed to squeeze a run across in the bottom of the 7th, that was when we took our 1st lead , and won the game. In a game like this usually a good defensive play will make a big difference and in the top of the 7th, Gordie Nicholson was able to spring from behind the plate and pick up two dribblers, and make to excellent throws to 1st base to record the first two outs of the 7th inning, we all know that 90% of the time those squibblers became base hits. Dave Bronte also contributed with two doubles. Bob Russell won the battle of the pitchers only 2 walks compared to there pitcher which walked 4, I give credit to both pitchers, because it was tough pitching in that cross wind.

ROCKETS-14      BOBCATS-8

The Rocket’s (8-5) win over the Bobats (5-7) was propelled by seven Steve Lefebvre rbi’s which included a grand salami in the bottom of the second inning.  Bruce Nelson, Rick Guenther, Mike Deacy and Bob Welch all added three hits for winning pitcher Art Galish.  Manager Frank Archer also contributed three ribbies and a two run saving grab in right field.
Sergio Carreras, Pat Murphy and Louis Van Berger tagged three hits apiece for the Cats. Louis also accounted for three Bobcat ribeye steaks.

GREAT TEAM WIN YESTERDAY!!!  WAY TO GO T-WOLVES!

A couple of BIG PLAYS really helped us……..Lenny pitching that KEY strikeout to end an inning and Tommy’s big catch in the last inning.  We miss you Billy……take care of yourself and hurry back.  Let’s keep it going Thursday, Jeff

-Dave Miller, T-Wolves manager, reporting

We all know about our many miscues on defense, but the offense was relentless. Everyone had at least 2 hits and we scored in every inning, even when it looked like we could ease up and coast home with a victory. Thankfully that scoring binge was just enough to get us by the Pistons who mounted a great comeback and scored 16 runs in the last two innings

Despite some catcalls from the Pistons when we had a big lead and intentionally walked their best hitter, I’ve been on the losing side of big comebacks in the past. And Lenny had said that Dave Kirtz was hitting pitches that were exactly where Lenny wanted them. So in the same situation, I’d do the same thing  again (obviously with some input from Lenny)

Now for some game stats

> Chuck Nebral was 5 for 5

> Rich Kerzner was 5 for 5 with 3 RBI’s

> Ed Kenney was 4 for 5 with a double and 2 RBIs

> Tom McHugh was 3 for 5 with a triple and 3 RBIs

> Jim Furtado was 3 for 5 with 1 RBI

> Jeff Hageman was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and 4 RBIs

> Larry Conway was 2 for 4 with a home run and 3 RBIs

> Dom Fucile was 2 for 3 with a triple and 2 RBIs

> Lenny Lewis was 2 for 4 with a triple and 2 RBIs

> Jerry Hudson was 2 for 4 with 1 RBI

> Dave Miller was 2 for 4

If the weather cooperates, we have the Hawks on Thursday at noon.  Bring those hot bats !!! –Dave
