The Helping Hands outreach ministry at New Covenant United Methodist Church was saluted Tuesday evening by the Sumter County Commission.
The commission issued a proclamation in honor of National Affordable Housing Week and put the spotlight on Helping Hands.
The ministry has grown from 12 to 300 volunteers in a few short years.
Helping Hands has put 19 families in homes in eight years.
Villager Gene Barton accepted the proclamation on behalf of Helping Hands.
